Vacation Photos...and then some
Here are my Vacation photos from Summer '05 when I went to Las Vegas for my 21st birthday with family and my recent trip to New England for a wedding. Beneath each photo there will be a brief description of what it is and why I took the picture. Enjoy! ^_^
Salem, MA - Returning from Nathaniel Hawthorne's house and I saw this cool sculpture that appeared as if the woman was coming out of the block of stone. A neat relief.
Salem, MA - The Witch Museum where I saw the retelling of The Crucible and the facts of the witch hunt. It was interesting, seeing how it was narrated manniquin scenes of vital events. O_o I guess I'm easily entertained when I'm on vacation. XP
Newport, Rhode Island - I took this picture because a) I was bored in a car and b) those two unlikely words put together was just amusing to me. Because when I hear Viking, I automatically think 'elegance'. @_@
Salem, MA - "Such a pretty boat...I mean, ship." - Capt. Jack Sparrow. ^_^ Oh yeah, I was so hooked on sailing ships after that.
Cleveland, Ohio - Okay, here's my traveling plans...Phoenix to Cleveland to Manchester. Getting off the plane in Cleveland from Phoenix, I saw this restaurant that offered Phoenix Coffee. I was like, "I just left Phoenix and now I'm being offered over-priced stuff from it." I thought it was hilarious at the coinsidence.
Salem, Ma - This was the shirt I wanted the most, to the point that I was going to order it off the internet and I even propositioned Jen into looking for one when she went to Disneyworld and the PotC gift shop. But I found it in a Salem T-shirt store and couldn't resist. ^_^ Sadfully, its black and I live in AZ...the annex of Hell.
Salem, Ma - The front of the shirt from the previous thumbnail.
Newport, Rhode Island - Jack would so agree with that flag. ^_~ I couldn't resist continuing with my Pirate themed week, as you will soon notice with the later photos.
***A belt I picked up before the trip and brought with me for its maiden voyage of use, enjoying the jingling noise it makes and keeping an eye out for additional charms. Its my version of Jack's hair trinkets, little momentos to remind me of good times.***
Nashua, New Hampshire - I'm a Wolverine fan...can't you tell? ^_~
Nashua, New Hampshire - Picked it up in the local Wal-Mart and loved the words "Predator of the Sea" that reminded me of Commodore Norrington, my fave PotC character, and probably the closest thing I will get to memoribilia for him.
Nashua, New Hampshire - Again from Wal-mart, one that's not available at my local "Wally World" (that's what my aunt calls it...hehehehe) and picked it up as a gift for my friend who dressed up as Capt. Jack for two Halloweens. XP
Salem, MA - Oddest place to pick up a pirate ship model was the Hawthorne Museum where his home and inspiration house for the House of Seven Gables were. *shrugs* Beats me but it will go with my U.S.S. Charleston ship model...again going with the Sparrington balance. (Sparrow/Narrington). ^_^
Newport, Rhode Island - *signs an X on the sign-up sheet* I want to be a pirate! XP AND IT GLOWS IN THE DARK....hehehehe.
Salem, MA - Random building architecture that's not available in AZ.
Goodyear, AZ - My Troy movie poster and my Egyptian theme collection.
Goodyear, AZ - My bookshelf that showcases my packrat tendency and liking to collect random things.
Goodyear, AZ - My bookshelf of goodies Part II
Goodyear, AZ - Trying to use up film, I thought I would showcase my room and all the movie posters that I've collected over the last few years. On the left is a puzzle I glued together of Wolverine that has the motto "Perseverance - Some people want it to happen. Some people wish it to happen...Others tear down the walls of resistance and make it happen." My two calendars, PotC and Lord of the Rings, and then Vampire Hunter D poster, Batman Begins and Constantine.
Goodyear, AZ - Main movie wall. (Left to Right) PotC, Spider-man 2, Van Helsing, PotC: Dead Man's Chest, (Row 2) Hidalgo, X-Men: Last Stand, I, Robot, and National Treasure. (Can we say "Movie Junkie?")
Goodyear, AZ - My Corner of Pirates. ^_^
Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas - *points at the cars* That's why I didn't cross the street to get a better picture. u_u
Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas - "Off to the right, you will see Planet Hollywood next to the lovely Colessum"...oh yeah, only in Vegas could you have two such different themes next door to each other.
Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas - I think Caesar's pointing at Eiffel Tower across the street, probably wondering what the hell it is and what purpose it serves. Italians and French confuse each other. XP
Paris Hotel, Las Vegas - The Arch of something or rather...>_> all I know is that its a replica of a massive ass arch in Paris built by one of the Emperors of Rome...that's probably what Caesar is really pointing at, saying "You see that...I built it. Me!"
Paris, Las Vegas - A big ass model of the Eiffel Tower. And if you look really closely, you'll see the blurred image of my thumb in the corner. >_<
Newport, Rhode Island - A random sail boat, which probably costs more than my college tuition, my car and future wedding in five years. @_@ Rich bastards.
Newport, Rhode Island - If you have the cash, you can rent that baby for your wedding reception for a shit load of money. My mind blanked out when the tour guide said how much but it was a lot.
Boston, MA - A memorial I spotted next to the dock where the U.S.S. Constitution.
Treasure Island, Las Vegas - The start of my Pirates collection and hangs above my bedroom door.
New York New York, Las Vegas - Found at the gift shop after coming off the roller coaster ride found there at the hotel. Again the evilness of black in the desert.
Las Vegas - Here are two sculptures that I bought of my favorite mythical gods, Shiva and Set. Shiva I bought with the money I won from a slot machine at the Luxor (I made $100 off the House ^_^) and Set is a rare find because he's not one of the favorite gods in Egyptian mythology.
Las Vegas Strip - Just admiring the decorative sculptures on the roof.
Balagio, Las Vegas - A man decked out in white robes and paint and miming a statue. Give him money and he'll move. XP
Las Vegas Strip - An outstanding actor dressed up as a bronze statue who would move periodically.
Phoenix, AZ - My neice, Kylie, on the way home from the airport.
Salem, NH - A statue of Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Salem, MA - Ohhhh shiny gold. @_@
Salem, MA at Hawthorne's house - Just a colorful garden with a unique sculpture piece.
Paris Hotel, Las Vegas - Random fountain.
Boston, MA - Look, its Norrington's Summer home. XP Here is the U.S.S. Constitution, the landmark I wanted to see most and walk half a mile for and came up short on time for a tour. At least I was able to stand on it and see it up close. ^_^
Boston, MA - Stupid sun...my mom gave me the idea that if I 'shaded' the lens that it won't 'see' the glare of the sun and should take a decent picture. Sadfully for me, I had a hard time figuring out if I was blocking out the sun or if my hand was covering up the lens. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
Boston, MA - The back end of the ship and part of a panaramic view.
Boston, MA - The front end (the bow) of the ship and if you carefully lay this pic and the previous one you get a good view of the entirity of the ship.
Boston, MA - A destroyer's kitchen mixer...can you imagine how much mash patatoes you can make with that thing? @_@ The woman in this pic is our lovely tour guide and my mom's college friend whose son is the groom in the wedding I attended. Her name is Marge and she's great, really livened up the tourist experience for me. I had her in the pic for relation purposes to show how big the mixer was.
Boston, MA - The string of domino like pillars following the Boston skyline reminded me of the cellphone commercials where they had the hidden rising bars of signal in the scenary. It peaked my photography interest.
Boston, MA - The monolith was a memorial for some battle back in the revolutionary period, I think. I heard this tidbit on the Duck Tour, where you ride in an amphibous vehicle from WWII, tour the streets of Boston before slipping into the Charles' River separating Boston from Cambridge and taking in those sights...so my fact remembering skills were pushed aside by my visual memory. Whoops.
Newport, Rhode Island - If you look closely between the bright red umbrellas, you'll see the best named restaurant ever, the "Black Pearl". I was so freaking giddy when I saw the sign, I didn't need Mountain Dew for at least twenty-four hours...and I had lobster there. Couldn't ask for more...well, maybe a guest appearance of Capt. Jack Sparrow...but beggers can't be choosers.
Newport, Rhode Island - A prettier sign for the restaurant. ^_^
ASU West campus, Glendale AZ - Ten bucks says you can't tell what the front will look like. XP
ASU West campus, Glendale AZ - Isn't it the coolest thing ever? It reminds me so much of the Sandman character, Destiny, and my own personification of my Muse aspect.
ASU West campus, Glendale AZ - Different angle.
Newport, Rhode Island - Last but not least...a yacht named "Alexander". I coudn't resist, mate. (In Jack Sparrow's voice)
(OOC - Well there you have it... a year's worth of photos and a look in how I think when I see something unique. My mom's friend, Marge, asked me the question, "What strikes you to take a picture?" and as of now, I still don't know. XP...whatever catches my attention I guess. -Muse)
